Service Description
ScarWork was developed by Sharon Wheeler a rolfer and structural integration therapist from the USA over 45 years ago. This technique uses a light, gentle touch to release tension and tightness in scars on the body which have developed following operations or accidents. It helps to integrate new and old scar tissue into the fascial network, releasing adhesions in the underlying and surrounding area and helping with numbness, congestion and tenderness improving the feel, health and function of the scar. ScarWork can help many types of scars including: • Abdominal scars caused by Caesarean section, hysterectomy and appendix operations including keyhole scars. • Breast surgery including mastectomy, lumpectomy and reconstruction • Hip and knee replacement surgery scars • Spinal surgery scars The ScarWork techniques also stimulate the connective tissues helping to alleviate mobility restrictions and allowing the body to function and move more naturally. Scar tissue can change quickly helping to smooth lumps, bumps, ridges, holes’ and knots and can result in the following benefits: * dense and tight scar tissue is released * pain and sensitivity are reduced * scar tissue function is improved * mobility is increased * healing process of the scar is improved
